JCS NYW Christmas Lunch with the Shelter Home Kids
  
It’s a time for sharing and giving, the JCS National Youth Committee has been busy bringing festive cheer to the children at Shelter Home Petaling Jaya. The event was held between 11 am to 3pm on the 20th December 2009 at Shelter Home 1 in Petaling Jaya.
SHELTER is a registered, voluntary welfare organization for children and teenagers who have been abandoned, neglected, orphaned or abused. The home provides care for these misfortune children and is proactively raising public awareness on child abuse. Shelter 1 is a home for children from 4 to 12 years of age who have been abused, neglected, at-risk or abandoned by their families, parents or guardians.
The NYW committee, together with the support of JCS youths, past NYW board members and other well-wishers, raised and allocated funds to arrange for a catered home-cooked lunch for the children, Christmas gifts, goodies bags and games. The children aged 6 to 16 were very receptive and happy with the games, food and friendship. The children were feted with sumptuous treats, goodies bag and colorful presents sponsored by well- wishers and caring individuals. The presents were placed under the Christmas tree, the children were allowed to open their presents on Christmas Eve.
The children were grouped in with our youths for the games; they had such an enjoyable time and were very delighted to receive praises and approval from their elder team members. Everyone had a ‘good’ feeling in their hearts and many pictures were taken to capture the moment. From the success of this event, the NYW are highly motivated to organize another charitable event on a larger scale. The committee also wishes to extend its gratitude to all that have contributed to make this event a successful event.
